Noncommunicable diseases (NCD’s) are a major cause of death and disability in the UK and worldwide (WHO), 2015. The four main types of NCD’s diseases are cardiovascular diseases (such as heart attacks and stroke), cancers, chronic respiratory diseases (such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma) and diabetes.

Modifiable behavioural risk factor such as tobacco use, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet and the harmful use of alcohol increase the risk of NCDs.

These risks can be reduced by encouraging and supporting individuals to make changes to improve their lifestyle and underpinning this is good mental well being which helps to adopt healthier lifestyles.
